Traditionally at the end of each year we reflect on our lives. Much of that comes from the previous year, but we take stock of our lives. The whole kit and kaboodle. Often people are pretty hard on themselves, measuring themselves against a yardstick that is unrealistic. There’s nothing wrong with being optimistic. One must also be realistic. I propose a single resolution.
Be kind to yourself.
Today, with insurance approval, I’ve scheduled vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) surgery. We’ve set the date for Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Dr. Merriman of Surgical Specialists is my bariatric surgeon. For Thanksgiving dinner, I’ll be having clear liquids. But the holidays are about loved ones, not so much the food.
